Well, I have made a lot of progress in the last few days with my site redevelopment project. None with my writing, which is a bummer.
For now, I decided to scrap using the premium theme and stick with modifying the Twenty-Ten theme that comes with WordPress 3.0. I have to say, though, I miss the ability to do layouts on the fly from within the dashboard that the premium theme offers. In fact, I submitted a modified version of the premium theme’s layout meta box file to their support team in hopes that they can take the work that I started for adapting the theme to custom post types and complete it, so I can continue to use the theme.
I’ve also started the process of turning the Twenty-Ten theme into a liquid width with a dynamic column layout. Since most of my customizations have to do with my use of custom taxonomies and custom post types, there is no sense in making the modified theme available for public distribution. As soon as I finish and test the functions.php and CSS changes that I did, though, I will post them.
