Writing and editing from a semi-perfectionist POV

The whole painful, time-consuming, infinite circle approach to my writing made me realize that things need to change, especially if I want to write as many books as I do. Ideally I want to do at the most three passes on a book before I'm done, hand it off for a proof, and then only worry about minor changes. It's the only way I'm going to get anywhere with my grand plan.
