It’s not hard to find yourself in a love/hate relationship with blogging. Sure, you know it’s a great way to connect with potential customers and generate leads, but it can also be a real pain in the you-know-what. Regardless of whether you’re a seasoned vet or just getting started, here’s 12 undeniable reasons why people hate blogging. And, more important, 12 surefire ways to get over them.

Guilty as charged on a few of these. Time probably being the biggest one.  If I could, I would write 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but when I write I sometimes lose hours because I get so involved in the process. They say write first, edit later, but to me, the post, prose, or whatever I’m writing has to be good enough (notice. I didn’t say perfect?), the first time.

It takes too much patience to see results – I’m slowly learning patience. I do watch my follower count fluctuate. The one for my personal Twitter is now averaging in the high 60’s, low 70’s.  Still a long way from that million that I want, but I will get there!  The triple digit follows on WordPress is great and definitely reflective of the idea the more effort you put into something that bigger results you will see. The Facebook page and Twitter account for Stars of Heros will increase as well with time, but right now there isn’t much going on with the series, so I’m definitely not worried there yet.

There’s already so much content out there – Oh, boy, that’s a big one for me on multiple levels. It was actually almost the reason I stopped writing. Who was I to go up against the likes of Tom Clancy and Jim Butcher? But then I slowly realized they have their stories and I have mine. Our perspective and voice is what makes us unique.

Bottom line, a writer needs to write. Whether it’s a blog, poetry, prose, or whatever else is needed, the words that you put down on paper (be it virtual or real), will inspire and impact someone. Even if it’s only you to write some more.
